Zounds!

Zounds!  Today is officially Talk Like Shakespeare Day, a day where "all citizens are encouraged to express themselves through the incorporation of Shakespearean language and dialect."  Never can it be said that Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel did nothing for the world!

Best looking 448 year old I've ever seen!
Today also marks the 396th anniversary of William Shakespeare having shuffled off of this mortal coil and the traditional 448th anniversary of his birth (he was baptized on April 26th and since he died on April 23rd, some have suggested his birthday as April 23rd.  There's a kinda symmetry to that.)

There are a list of suggestions as to how to better incorporate Elizabethan English into your daily conversations today at the above linked to page.

I hope everyone also liked the April Fool's Day post about Twilight.  More importantly, I hope everyone got that that post was an April Fool's Day post...!  For those requesting more reviews, reviews are coming soon along with possibly a cross-over post!

Sirrah and Mistresses, my master, O Tedious One, has deigned to descend from Mt. Olympus and visit us mere mortals by his returneth from far-off shores where the speech of fair maidens falleth like honey from the comb! Prithee, come hence and speaketh like the Bard of renown, let all the Universe take delight in the mother tongue and thereby spreadeth joy throughout the realm.

This morn, as I awoke all rumpled-hair and wiped the dust of slumber from my eyes, I shook my fist at the golden-clad Sun and cried, "What hath thee wrought? Get thee away from me, and send the cool Goddess of the Moon to reclaim her Throne and thereby rocketh me to sleep with tender lullabies and perchance dreams of angels and mermaids with lustrous tresses and honeyed kisses to while away the inky caress of Mistress Night.

Gadzooks, what fun!

I have a question: How come if there is only one comment posted the link reads "1 comments" (plural) instead of "1 comment" (singular)? I understand there can be zero comments or two or more comments but "1 comments" C'mon, Shakespeare would not put up with such buffoonery

You would have to ask the friendly people at Blogger/Google about that one. I think it's just easier to code blogs with having the word "comments" instead of having to make sure that they use both the singular and plural correctly.

Granted, Shakespeare also created his own words when he felt like it...he probably wouldn't have cared too much! haha!

Oh, I hear a birdy told me there may be a new post on here tomorrow!

Any comments on When You Were Mine, a new version of the story of Romeo and Juliet? It makes Juliet out to be a mean girl and tells the story of her cousin Rosaline, who was the object of Romeo's affection when he crashes the party where he meets Juliet. Updated to the present time and placed in Southern California. Sounds interesting . . .

That actually sounds really interesting. I hadn't heard about it before, but I'll be keeping an eye out for it at the library and the bookstores. Thanks!

Tedious One, O Tedious One, wherefore art thou, O Tedious One? My apologies to the fair Juliet, but we are anxiously awaiting a blog entry from OTO.
