Hopping On...

 In the spirit of the Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and find new blogs that we may be missing out on! Right this instant, what book are you dying to get your hands on (past, present, or future?)

 

Fiction: 

It's not been translated into English yet, but I really am looking forward to 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami.  The book has been out for probably over a year now in Japan, and while I know next to nothing about the story line, but I really love his books.  Murakami's work includes fictional novels, collections of short stories, and even a few works of non-fiction such as Underground, interviews with survivors of the 1995 Tokyo sarin gas attacks.

1Q84 comes in three volumes and the first volume should be released in English in just over a year in September 2011.

 

 

 

Non-Fiction: 

A few months back I heard an NPR interview (on WBEZ's WorldView) about Mac McClelland's For Us Surrender Is Out of the Question: A Story From Burma's Never-Ending War.  What I caught of her interview was really interesting, and despite having known that there was a war going on in Burma/Myanmar, I probably should know more and this sounded like a compelling read.
