Top Ten Books I'm Dying to Read
My current to-be-read list is around 200+ books on Goodreads, though a lot of those books tend to be ones that I thought sounded interesting at one point in time and then forgot about it.
1. The Historian - Elisabeth Kostova: I'm actually going to be reading this one very soon, since I and Coffee and a Book Chick are co-hosting a read a read-along of the book starting September 20th at at On The Ledge Read-A-Longs. We'd love to have pay us a visit there!
2. Were You Born on the Wrong Continent?: How the European Model Can Help You Get a Life
- Thomas Geoghegan: There was a Slate article about this a few weeks ago and it looked amazing.
3. Beyond (Straight and Gay) Marriage: Valuing All Families under the Law- Nancy D. Polikoff: This book looks really interesting and received a really high review from a friend of mine.
4. For Us Surrender Is Out of the Question: A Story of Burma's Never-Ending War- Mac McClelland: I heard the author talk about her book on a WBEZ Chicago program called WorldView a few months ago and it sounded very interesting.
5. Bonjour Tristesse - Françoise Sagan: I only recently heard about Sagan, but would love to read this novel. I actually have it from the library right now, but haven't had a chance to crack it open, yet.
6. The Devlin Diary - Christi Phillips: I read and reviewed the previous book, but haven't read the current one yet.
7. 1Q84 - Haruki Murakami: The three volume set of my favorite author's latest novel...the English translation won't be coming out until at least 2011!
8. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare: It's taken a while, but I have a decent chunk done of the plays already.
9. Claude & Camille: A Novel of Monet - Stephanie Cowell: A novel about my favorite artist? Of course I want to read it!
10.Suite Française - Irène Némirovsky: I own it but it's never seemed like the right time to read it. I've read some short stories by her and loved them, though.
11. Audition - Ryu Murakami: Yeah....I added one more since I thought of it after I finished the list. I'm hit and miss with Ryu Murakami, but I'd be interested to see how the book reads after having seen the bizarre and very bloody film version.

Oh wow, awesome list! Looks like you've got some seriously interesting books on here. I'll have to check out that one on gay marriage.
I loved The Historian. Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you for the tip about Born on the Wrong Continent. Yes, I've always suspected that this is true.
Happily, I've now requested this from my library.
Here's my list:

The only one I've read from your list is The Historian but it's fantastic! And perfect for this time of year. Enjoy!
Trish and Bev: if either of you want to participate in the read-a-long by commenting on that site, we'd love to have your insights! I'm about to start the book a few days early this week.
readerbuzz: It looked really good at Borders. My library doesn't have it, so I may have to go buy a copy for my own library. It looks like the kind of book I may want to keep around.
