In My Mailbox (2)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi of The Story Siren.

What I read this week:
East of the Sun - Julia Gregson

What I'm currently reading:
Gated Grief: The Daughter of a GI Concentration Camp Liberator Discovers a Legacy of Trauma - Leila Levinson
As You Like It - William Shakespeare  (possibly)

What I purchased this week:
The library has a booksale room that sells used donated or former library books.  So it's pretty hit-or-miss.  This week I hit...plus they had a buy-one-get-one-free sale.  What did I get?
  • The Bell Jar - Sylvia Plath
  • Outlander - Diana Gabaldon
  • The Venetian Betrayal - Steve Berry
  • The Alexandria Link - Steve Berry
  • The Charlemagne Pursuit - Steve Berry
  • Johnathan Strange & Mr. Norrell - Susanna Clarke

Six books.  All paperbacks and in good condition.  And how much did these six books set me back?  $0.75.  Total.

 In other news:
As of Saturday (ie: yesterday) my local Borders Bookstore has started it's liquidation sale.  When I visited I noticed that:
  1. The lines were loooooooooong....like worse than Christmas-time looooong.
  2. The coffee store in the Boarders is closed with all of the chairs and tables pushed to a side.
  3.  Despite signs saying that everything was 20% to 40% off, books were 20% off, greeting cards were 30% off, and nothing I saw was 40% off.
  4. I bought nothing, since it seemed that the prices were still fairly high considering what the prices are for books on websites and I saw little that I really wanted to buy.
Having your nearest remaining bookstore close sucks.  Not finding anything you want to buy there when there are discounts on everything almost sucks just as much.
