Book Blogger Hop 6/10 - 6/12

Book Blogger Hop

In the spirit of the Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and find new blogs that we may be missing out on!  This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books!  It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs that they may not know existed! While it's usually hosted by Crazy for Books, this week it's being hosted by Lori's Reading Corner.

This week's prompt:

"Who is the ONE author that you are DYING to meet?"

Assuming a living author (and not a deceased one I'd have to actually die to meet in person!), this makes this decision pretty easy.  I'm going to go with the first author who pops into my head: Haruki Murakami.  Despite the fact that I've never reviewed any of his books for this blog, he's easily one of my favorite authors.  From the first book I read of his, Norwegian Wood, I was hooked.

Oddly enough that book, is both one of his most popular and one of the least like the rest of his body of work.   Most of his fiction have a touch of the surreal, while Norwegian Wood is a more nostalgic, almost straightforward tale of youthful love.  He also writes non-fiction, including Underground, a fascinating collection of interviews with survivors of the 1995 Tokyo subway serin gas attack.

What would we talk about?  Apart from his books, writing process, sheep, cats, and jazz music, I'd probably ask him about the author Ryu Murakami (no relation).  I had read a while ago that Ryu Murakami was one of Haruki's favorite novelists, and I'd love to ask him about the meanings behind Ryu Murakami's works, since I just don't think I get some of his stories at all.

So, thanks for stopping by on the Hop!  Hope you enjoyed it!  Which author would you pick?
